Common Property (roads in the complex) – WEAR a MASK outside your garden gate

  • People can move freely within their own properties (gardens included) but it is stipulated that they remain confined to those boundaries unless one of the exceptions applies.
  • Wear a mask when you are outside your garden gate on common property; e.g. walking to your vehicle, walking to the main gate, taking out your bin, fetching your bin, etc.
  • Refer to regulations regarding exceptions for Movement of People outside the complex.
  • Children must be under adult supervision at all times and should avoid exposure to other people.
  • No gatherings may take place on common property and numbers are limited in an individual unit. We urge residents to report such activities to the police, or security who will then report offenders to the authorities.
  • Practice social distancing.
  • Do not litter on common property.
  • Kindly do not smoke or drink in the roads, or dispose of cigarette butts or bottles in the roads.

Domestic Workers – NO MASK NO ENTRY

Employers and residents must ensure that workers comply by wearing masks when entering the complex and walking in the roads from the main gate to the unit where they work and from the unit to the gate. Workers may not visit other units where they are not employed.

Visitors and Pedestrian Gates – NO MASK NO ENTRY

  • The visitors gate will be operational 24 hours. The curfew was lifted. There will therefore be no restrictions on the hours of movement of people.
  • Onus are on residents to only allow entry as per alert level regulations and to be vigilant not to allow unknown people in.
  • If people become aware of anyone not adhering to the regulations, they can call SAPS as it’s outside the scope of ESS or the body corporate.
  • The pedestrian gate – residents, body corporate contractors, and registered domestic workers are allowed entry/exit. Walk-in deliveries and visitors allowed as per the alert level regulations – NO MASK NO ENTRY.
  • Tenants or owners will be allowed to move out/into units as per the current alert level regulations. Obtain the Welcome Letter and applicable Forms from the guardhouse only if you cannot download them from the website: https://tokarabc.com/need-to-know/

Refuse Bins – WEAR a MASK on common property

Store your refuse bin inside your garden area (refer: Dustbin Protocol – Tokara Online (tokarabc.com)) to prevent that others dispose of their refuse, litter, bottles and cigarette buts in your bin for health reasons. When taking out your refuse keep your distance from other residents and wear a mask. Pikitup have requested that residents sanitize the lids of the dustbins. Residents must sanitize their hands after handling the refuse bin.

Social distancing – WEAR a MASK outside your garden gate

We appeal to all residents to adhere to the spirit and intent of the Lockdown in order to limit the spread of the disease.
We have to rely on each other to conduct ourselves in a compliant manner and not to do anything that poses a risk to other residents. Social distancing is more critical than ever. Households should stay together, avoid social interactions with others and follow all guidelines or directives issued by the authorities.

Am I allowed to visit / converse with my neighbours within the complex or on the common property?

Please wear a mask outside your unit. Social gatherings of any kind are discouraged. Onus are on residents to visit/converse as per alert level regulations. All residents are encouraged to remain inside their own property as required. Residents are permitted to leave their homes for emergencies or to purchase/collect essentials, such as food and medicine, and as allowed or not per the regulations and exclusions.

Security Services – WEAR a MASK on common property

  • The President announced previously that SAPS and SANDF will be deployed to ensure that general movement will be curtailed to only that which is essential during curfew. Security Services are excluded from the Lockdown operations and are allowed to conduct their business.
  • In Tokara, our security personnel will continue to fulfill their normal duties of protecting the gate and patrolling during the night.
  • The security staff will however not be tasked with controlling the movement of residents in Tokara and we urge all residents to take responsibility and protect their households in the best interests of everyone in Tokara.
  • The trustees have provided soap and disinfectants for them to use over and above what was provided by ESS.

What will happen if I don’t obey the lockdown regulations?

Anyone who does not adhere to the restrictions on movement will be guilty of an offence and on conviction, will be liable to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months or to both such fine and imprisonment.
